Jens is the CEO of the Bioinnovation Institute (a Novo Nordisk Foundation initiative), Professor at Chalmers University of Technology, and Scientific Director at DTU Biosustain.
Jens is an internationally established researcher (h-index = 163) and the recipient of prestigioius international awards. His research is focused on systems biology, the modeling of metabolism, and metabolic engineering of cell factories.
He has published more than 800 scientific articles that have been cited more than 125,000 times. Jens Nielsen has been elected into several academies, including the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Royal Danish Academy of Science and Letters, the National Academy of Sciences (USA) and the National Academy of Engineering (USA).
Jens Nielsen has several years of entrepreneurial expertise as the founder of biotech companies, including Elypta with Francesco Gatto.
